Qingdao Best Friend Rubber & Plastic Co., Ltd. is one of the most reliable manufacturers and suppliers of flame resistant steel cord conveyor belt in China, also supports customized service. If you're going to buy high quality flame resistant steel cord conveyor belt made in China, welcome to get more information from our factory.
In an underground coal roadway, the conveyor belt is the largest single combustible surface in the mine - kilometres of rubber running past cables, bearings and lighting. A flame resistant steel cord conveyor belt is built so that when something else catches fire, the belt stops carrying it instead of becoming the fuel.
QBF Rubber builds these belts to DIN 22131, in strength grades from ST630 to ST7500 N/mm and widths from 500 to 3200 mm.

Product advantages and features
Flame resistance is three tests, not one.
Most specifications stop at the flame test (ISO 340): it proves the belt will not keep burning once the source is removed. It says nothing about how belt fires actually start - a seized or slipping pulley rubbing a loaded belt. That is drum friction, EN 12881-2: no flame or glow while the drum surface reaches 325 °C. Static is the third test, ISO 284, because a belt that cannot bleed charge to the frame will spark in a methane atmosphere.
MSHA approval belongs to a construction, not to a rubber compound.
US underground coal mines require belts carrying an MSHA 30 CFR Part 14 approval number, issued after the Belt Evaluation Laboratory Test. That number covers one construction - cord grade, cover thickness and compound together.
Two trade-offs we would rather state up front.
FR filler packages do not improve abrasion resistance, so an FR cover wears faster on sharp, high-tonnage material - we set cover thickness at enquiry stage rather than let a belt come back thin. And hydraulic oil destroys flame resistance in the contaminated zone, which is invisible from the walkway. Tell us about oil contact before quoting.
The splice is usually the only non-compliant metre on the belt.
A certified belt closed with a general-purpose splice kit leaves one metre that is neither flame-safe nor full strength. We ship matched FR splice compounds and specify the splice layout with the belt.
Applications
Underground coal mine main haulage
Long single flights in a methane and coal-dust atmosphere, where the belt is the longest combustible surface between the face and the shaft. Flame propagation and conductivity are both mandatory here.flame-resistant-steel-cord-belt-underground-coal-mine.
Surface coal handling to a power station
Coal dust is explosive in enclosed galleries and conveyor bridges even above ground, so flame-resistant and antistatic belt is required by most operators on the enclosed sections. Steel cord keeps the splice count low over long overland runs.flame-resistant-steel-cord-belt-power-plant-coal.jpg · alt: Flame resistant steel cord conveyor belt feeding coal to a power plant
Tunnel boring and TBM muck removal
A single exit and a long evacuation distance change the priority: smoke density and toxicity matter more than flame spread. Specify smoke and toxicity limits alongside the flame class.
Biomass, wood pellets and waste-to-energy
Pellets, RDF and refuse self-heat and smoulder, and embers drop onto the belt from dryers and hoppers.
FAQ
Q: Is flame resistant the same as fire resistant?
No, and it matters. Flame resistant means the belt self-extinguishes once the ignition source is removed - it is not fireproof and will burn in a sustained fire. If that is your concern, it is a different construction and a different test.
Q: Does the belt need to be antistatic as well?
Yes, wherever methane or combustible dust is present. Flame resistance (ISO 340) and conductivity (ISO 284) are separate tests and a belt can pass one and fail the other. Conductivity lets charge bleed to the frame instead of sparking.
Q: Can I customise a belt that already has an MSHA approval number?
Only within the approved construction. A Part 14 approval covers one combination of cord grade, cover thickness and compound - change any of them and the belt needs re-approval. We will say which changes stay inside it.
