Is Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) the answer for decarbonizing steel? While CCS can play a role, like reducing emissions from coal-based steel making or where CO₂ can be repurposed, it's not a complete solution. Most steel plants lack access to large-scale CO₂ storage sites.
The green steel will be created by using hydrogen to react with iron ore, producing only water vapour. H2 Green Steel will produce its own green hydrogen using water from a nearby river.
The electricity required for electrolysis and the running of the plant will be provided by nearby renewable resources including hydropower. The process promises to cut emissions by 95% when compared with traditional steelmaking.
The steel is produced using a direct reduction reactor in the place of a blast furnace, producing sponge iron and water. How steel will be produced by H2 Green Steel.

Since its launch, the steel plant has been reshaped to be the accelerator of decarbonization in hard-to-abate industries. Hard-to-abate industries rely heavily on fossil fuels, making emissions cuts more challenging.
– Green hydrogen: one of the world's largest electrolyzers
– Green iron: where the bulk of the emissions are reduced by replacing coal and coke in traditional steel making with green hydrogen – emitting water instead of carbon emissions
– Green steel: a fully electrified large-scale production facility for near-zero emissions steel
QBF rubber has successful experience with steel plants worldwide for the furnace feed conveyor belt. The furnace geed conveyor belt is sidewall conveyor belt which could performance vertically with the blast furnace. The first domestic 1 million-ton hydrogen-based shaft furnace project was successfully ignited and put into operation at Baosteel Group's Zhanjiang Iron & Steel (hereinafter referred to as Zhanjiang Iron & Steel). This is currently the largest production line in China that integrates multiple gas sources and ultimately uses all hydrogen for industrial production of direct reduced iron. It marks another exemplary and landmark step for China's steel industry in its transition towards green and low-carbon development, and will further lead the transformation of traditional steel metallurgical processes.

The stability of sidewall conveyor belting plays a very important role in daily operation.

From material to production, QFB rubber offers a reliable system to Green Steel.
